Milk Chiller Maintenance and Cleaning: A Practical Routine
Pictured: H-TECH stainless steel milk cooling tanks.
Quick answer: Clean the milk chiller after every emptying: rinse, wash with warm dairy detergent, rinse, and sanitise before the next milk goes in. Check and record the milk temperature every day, keep the condenser free of dust, and act quickly if cooling takes longer than usual.
Key facts
  • Clean after every emptying: rinse → detergent → rinse → sanitise
  • Record milk temperature at every delivery and collection
  • Dust on the condenser = slow cooling and higher power bills
  • Keep cleaning and temperature records (Kenya Dairy Board (KDB))
