Milking Machine Price in Kenya and How It Works
Pictured: double cow milking machine.
Quick answer: A milking machine milks cows using gentle vacuum through teat cups, with a pulsator that alternates suction and rest so the teats are not damaged. Milk flows into a closed bucket or can, which is cleaner than hand milking. Our double cow milking machine is KSh 75,000.

How Does a Milking Machine Work?

  1. A vacuum pump creates gentle suction.
  2. The pulsator switches each teat cup between suction (milk flows) and rest (blood flows back to the teat), many times a minute.
  3. The teat cups (cluster) hold the teats; milk flows through the tubes.
  4. Milk collects in a closed bucket or can, protected from dust and flies.

How Long Does It Take to Milk a Cow With a Machine?

It depends on the cow and her yield; machine milking is usually faster and more consistent than hand milking. Prepare the cow (clean and dry teats, first strip by hand) before attaching the cups, and remove them as soon as milk flow stops.

Is a Milking Machine Good for Cows?

Yes, when it is set up and cleaned correctly: the right vacuum level, working pulsation and clean liners. Over-milking and dirty liners are the main causes of teat problems.

How to Clean a Milking Machine

  1. Straight after milking, rinse the cluster and tubes with clean lukewarm water.
  2. Wash with hot water and dairy detergent; brush the bucket.
  3. Rinse, sanitise, and hang to dry.
  4. Replace worn liners and tubes on schedule.
