Repackaging Business Calculator: Cost per Pack and Profit
Pictured: manual bag heat sealer (left) and automatic powder packing machine (right).
Quick answer: Cost per pack = product (bulk price per kg × pack weight, plus loss) + pouch, label and code + overheads ÷ packs sold. Profit per pack × packs per month gives monthly profit. Accurate weighing matters: overfilling every pack by a few grams quietly eats the margin.
Key facts
  • Cost = product + packaging + overheads per pack
  • Giveaway (overfill) eats margin
  • Payback = equipment ÷ monthly profit
  • KEBS and labelling rules apply to branded food
