Water Dispenser vs Water Purifier: Which One Should You Buy?
Pictured: RO Under counter system, with booster pump and UF Under Counter System (5 Stage).
Quick answer: A water dispenser does not purify: it holds a 20-litre bottle and cools or heats the water you buy. A water purifier (UF or RO) cleans the water from your tap or tank, so you stop buying bottles. If you already buy refills every week, a purifier usually pays for itself; if you have no piped water, a dispenser with trusted refills is simpler.
Key facts
  • Dispenser = cools/heats bottled water
  • Purifier = cleans your own water
  • Purifier cuts the cost per litre
  • Many offices use both

Cost Comparison (Worked Example)

Example only: a family using 40 L of drinking water a week. Buying two 20 L refills a week at KSh 150–300 each costs roughly KSh 1,200–2,400 a month. A purifier costs more upfront, plus filter changes, but the water itself costs only what you already pay for tap water. Use the cost per litre calculator with your own numbers.

Which type? RO vs UF. Hard water too? Do I need a softener?

Can You Use Both?

Yes. Many offices fill a bottom-loading or bottle dispenser with purified water from their own RO system, getting cold water without buying bottles. Keep bottles clean: how to sanitise 20 L bottles.

Do You Sell Water Dispensers?

We focus on the purification side (purifiers, UV, refill stations). If you need cold water for many people, we can size an RO system to feed your dispensers or a cooler.

Start a Refill Business Instead

Lots of dispensers near you? Selling refills can be a business: how to start a water refilling business.
